According to John Gray, men “pull away” and women go into their well, when their stress levels rise and their emotions dip.
Learning to have “me moments”, spent doing something you love, is an amazing way to find inner security and peace.
This takes pressure off our relationships and trying to have others always fill our time.
Women deplete their energy through giving. To renew their strengths they must spend time on themselves. For men its pulling away and doing something "manly", usually after being "extremely close."
Allowing those around us, especially when in a relationship, to have time for themselves, their friends, their hobbies etc is crucial. And having time for yours is more so.
The people around us deserve to feel free, and allowing ourselves that freedom, we can allow others.
And when we are secure in our own pleasures we can allow our relationships to develop.
Disclaimer: Whilst I found John Grays work to sensible and reputable, it is important you approach this with the mentality of what right for you. Once you are open to the change you seek, the answers you need will appear.
In the next few days make an hour where you can sit down with a coffee, a beer, a glass of wine, a cocktail a mocktail, some water even!
It’s time for you to create some sort of schedule to find your “me moments” and set them in clay! (because we want to be flexible)
If you have a partner discuss this with them and work out time where you both can spend time having guilt free “me time.”
Set your “Me Moments” as reminders in your phone and try your best to stick to them.
Even if you have to edit or snooze them a couple times.
"Make YOU a priority"
Examples of “Me Moments”:
I have reminders in my phone twice a week to do a face mask when I see it
When the kids are strapped in the car I do a bit of make up just to spruce up.
I love to watch sports with the boys
We go out for a meal or even cook something special at home. “date nights”
While the kids are in the bath I put on a face mask and scroll through Instagram
I go and get a shape up and hair cut once a week
When the kids are in bed I have a hot bath and exfoliate and moisturise thoroughly
On the weekends I like to have an afternoon at the sauna, steam and Jacuzzi (Gym pass)
If your challenges are being done privately create a word doc to journal your video and thoughts.
